"Everyone is
the Self and indeed, is infinite. Yet each person mistakes his body for his Self. In order to know anything, illumination
is necessary. This can only be of the nature of Light; however, it lights up both physical light and physical darkness. That
is to say, that it lies beyond apparent light and darkness. It is itself neither, but it is said to be light because it illumines
both. It is infinite and is Consciousness. Consciousness is the Self of which everyone is aware. No one is ever away from the Self and therefore everyone is in fact Self-realised;
only – and this is the great mystery – people do not know this and want to realise the Self. Realisation
consists only in getting rid of the false idea that one is not realised. It is not anything new to be acquired. It must already
exist or it would not be eternal and only what is eternal is worth striving for”.
"Once the false notion ‘I am the body’
or ‘I am not realised’ has been removed, Supreme Consciousness or the Self alone remains and in people’s
present state of knowledge they call this ‘Realisation.’ But the truth is that Realisation is eternal and already
exists, here and now".

screen in the cinema-show. But the moving pictures do not affect or alter the screen. The spectator pays attention to them,
not to the screen. They cannot exist apart from the screen, yet the screen is ignored. So also, the Self is the screen where
the pictures, activities etc. are seen going on. The man is aware of the latter but not aware of the essential former. All
the same the world of pictures is not apart from the Self. ~

Beyond
'I Am', Beyond Reality, There Is Only One. You Are That.
"This
primary concept, ‘I-am-ness’, is dishonest, because it is still a concept
only. Finally one has to transcend that also and be in the ‘nirvikalpa’
state, which means the concept-free state. Then you have no concept at all, not even of ‘I am’. In that state
one does not know that one is. This state is known as ‘Parabrahman’: ‘Brahman’
transcended. ‘Brahman’ is manifest; ‘Parabrahman’ is beyond
that, prior to that; the Absolute". -SriNisargadattaMaharaj
The Natural State
Awareness and even relative seeing are
never intellectual. Before
thought gets into the picture, there is a natural sense of being and non-conceptual awareness functioning. The “I”
always comes in as an after-thought. And it is literally just a thought — after
the seeing. The notion of “me” is conceptual in nature. Awareness is there whether or not the “me”
notion appears. You are aware of the “me”, so your natural state is already free of the “me”. What
is this “me” or “I” except an image floating through clear, open awareness itself? And where is the
presumed entity referred to by the concept “I”? Nowhere! So the “I” as a substantial reality is a
fiction. It is not present. This is what knocks any steam out of the mind's concepts — seeing that the person who is
the victim of the concepts is non-existent. Still, non-conceptual awareness shines out illuminating everything, even the fact
of being conscious.

The main concept to see as non-existent is the “I” concept. All problems ultimately
hang on the belief in the reality of that concept. That is why Buddha taught emptiness of phenomena and emptiness of self.
Emptiness of self is the most important because all suffering hangs on the belief in the separate “I”.
See that the search itself is a trap, because the
search implies that there is an entity needing to become something. And becoming implies some future time. It is not being.
Becoming can never be being. What we are talking about is being. We call ourselves 'human beings' and we call God the 'Supreme
Being'. Take those two labels off (human and Supreme) and try to separate the beingness. I might call this being here Bob,
and that being there I might call Joan. The chair we are sitting on we call a chair. But take away all those labels and what's
left? The substratum or the base, the beingness, the pattern and form they are taking the shape of or appearing as. But the
pattern and form are appearance only. Their essence is still that energy (pure being) vibrating into those patterns. So there
is really nowhere to go and there is no one to go there. And there is nothing to get and no one to get it.
Do you
exist? Paraphrasing the Tao: To know your True Nature, the Eternal Unchanging 'Always So', is to be illumined.
"How is this known? By looking". The urge
to challenge the assumed consensus reality comes from The One Beyond! This awareness of being (I exist, I am) happens in Timeless Spaceless Being. But do you
exist? Is there such a thing as a separate I that exists? We claim to KNOW "I exist". But do we really? Is that really TRUE? Where's your proof? Now look at this: What is always here where you are, prior to thoughts, feelings, sensations, prior to wakefulness? Awareness
IS. Notice this.
What Is Reality?
Perhaps the habit is to identify your self as the thought "I" - as in I Am. Notice
right now if the Presence behind the I thought has been overlooked. Break into the habit, being aware of That Presence as
your True Identity. This takes no time nor practice. It's just a natural seeing ... right here, right now. And that's the
end of seeking; the Natural, Eternal Stateless Being has been found to be never missing.
The appearing manifest multiplicity
- you and me and world - are in Reality, One Being, Unicity. There is only One. Paradoxically, Empty yet Full. An Aware, Alive Presence, This One never ends and never begins. All there is is This One.
This One cannot be found. This One has never been lost.
The One Presence - Awareness is transparent and of the nature of naked light or the empty
sky ... NOT an object that mind can perceive! You cannot objectify Awareness; it is like Space. It's EMPTY and meaningless.
This which is pointed to is That Inconceivable Isness which lovingly holds everything. That
cannot be an object "you" can conceive or perceive or grasp, any more than the apple can perceive or grasp the bowl.
Look at this: What
is always here where you are, prior to thoughts, feelings, sensations, prior to wakefulness? Awareness IS. Notice
this. Is there anything wrong with Awareness? The knowing, "I Am", IS
Awareness, yet Awareness can't be known. An eye cannot see itself. So: Awareness is The Actual, while the knower of Awareness
is only a thought and not real in truth. The thoughts that appear in Awareness are like objects appearing in a mirror. The
mirror remains untouched by reflections in it, Awareness is the Mirror. You are That. This Presence is your True Self.
That is less than Nothing.
Awareness ~ Presence ~ Love
A subtle idea of being I separated from other, asserts itself as a silent context, an unseen unknown matrix.
But it is only a thought arising in Presence! The lie is the assumption that "I am a separate entity, apart from the whole".
Look at it as a silent background assumption
of a core self-identity, even before time and being arises. Is it true? Look into this. Asking the mind "Do I exist"? may show that the automatic brain-machinery answer
is always yes. But is this 'yes' real and absolutely certain? Who says so? See that "I exist" is a self-reinforcing back-story,
an unthought thought, a sense-story of an I that claims to exist and proves its existence to itself by reasserting the concept
"I exist."
But do understand
that asserting the false over and over does NOT
make it true.
It's a self-reinforcing conceptual LOOP. A tautology! Get outside this loop! Drop all other questions, doubts, confusions. All are based on a core belief.
A belief that "I exist". DO I exist? Where's the proof?
That
“I AM” you BELIEVE is “YOU” is ONLY a thought.
It’s the mind’s
translation of the pure NON-conceptual Isness of Being One-Without-A-Second, Being-Awareness, into the “thought-form
of I.” And a thought “I”, or “I AM,” is NOT a separate, actual independent thing; it is an ephemeral,
temporary appearance that comes and goes in Unchanging Presence-Awareness. So, be willing to DROP all answers and abide as
NOT Knowing. Unknowing Presence-Awareness; Cluelessly Being This, as it is and as it ain’t. FULL STOP. Seeking an answer
IS the denial of this Presence, Being-Aliveness … you attempt to find Being, and that’s like a fish in the ocean
seeking the water: “Where O Where is my Water"?
“Knowledge and ignorance pertain only to the mind and are
in duality, but the Self is beyond them both. It is pure Light. There is no need for one Self to see another. There are no
two selves. What is not the Self is mere non-self and cannot see the Self. The Self has no sight or hearing; it lies beyond
them, all alone, as pure Consciousness.” ~ Sri Ramana Maharshi

The Open Secret communication is totally radical and uncompromising. It is a rare and singular
expression of absolute non-dualism. It bypasses the mind and speaks directly to the very core of a wisdom that is imminent
in all of us. When there is a readiness to hear, all seeking and need for personal endeavour falls away, leaving simply the
wonder of what is.
There is no me and no you, no seeker, no enlightenment, no disciple and no guru. There is no better
or worse, no path, and nothing that has to be achieved. All appearance is source. All that apparently manifests – the
world, the life story, the hypnotic dream of separation, the search for home, is the one appearing as two, the nothing appearing
as everything, the absolute appearing as the relative.
There is no separate intelligence weaving a destiny, and no choice functioning at any level. What
is sought has never been lost . . . the abiding, boundless wonder that is beyond measure. What is sought remains hidden from
the seeker by already being everything.
It is so obvious and simple that the grasping of it obscures it. Never found, never knowable,
being is the consummate absence that is beyond measure.
Looking for being is believing it is lost. Has anything been lost, or is it simply that the looking
keeps it away? Does the beloved always dance constantly just beyond our serious focus?
The very intention to seek for a mythical treasure within life inevitably obscures the reality
that life is already the treasure.
By seeking the myth it dreams it can attain, the seeker effectively avoids that which it most
fears … its absence.
Liberation is like a fuse that suddenly blows, and all the little lights go out and there is only
light.
This is not a message about you or me or anyone getting anything. This is about the realisation
that there’s nothing to get … that what has been sought has never been lost.
This isn’t about seeking or not seeking; it’s beyond the concepts of Advaita and non-dualism
and beyond the idea of reaching states of awareness or mindfulness. There’s no goal. There’s nothing on offer.
This is totally beyond knowing.
This is really a description – a sharing together of a description of something that is
beyond attainment, something that can’t be lost and also can’t be grasped or gained.
All the time there’s separation there’s a sense of loss, there’s a sense of
a feeling that there’s something that isn’t whole. And so the seeker attempts to fill that void, fill it with
something – whatever. And some look to something called “enlightenment” because it is felt that enlightenment
might be the thing that will fill this sense of loss; it could be the answer to some secret that we don’t quite get.
And it sounds, when we read about enlightenment, as though somebody else has found the secret.
But nobody’s found the secret.
There’s no such thing as an enlightened person. It’s a complete misconception. But
the difficulty is that being seekers, the energy of seeking pushes us into being attracted to the idea that somebody else
has found something that we can find, because we grow up believing that effort brings results. So, if effort brings results,
and we’ve heard of something called enlightenment or liberation, we can make the effort and then we can become liberated
or enlightened … like this guy up the road we’ve heard about, or that woman that’s giving satsangs. They
have got something that I want. If I go there I will learn how to get it.
In the dream there’s still an idea that enlightenment or liberation is something that’s
attainable. And so there are teachings that reinforce the idea that you are an individual that has choice, so now you, as
an individual, can choose to self-enquire or to meditate, or whatever else, and eventually you could become enlightened.
You can go all over the world and find teachings offering something to get. It is rare, however,
to find an uncompromising communication that offers nothing at all to the seeker.
This aliveness is nothing being everything. It’s just life happening. It’s not happening
to anyone. There’s a whole set of experiences happening here and they’re happening in emptiness … they’re
happening in free fall. They’re just what’s happening. All there is is life. All there is is beingness. There
isn’t anyone that ever has or does not have it. There’s nobody that has life and somebody else doesn’t have
life. There just is life being life.
This message is so simple it totally confounds the mind. This message is too simple. Already your
mind’s saying, “Yes, but come on … what about the levels of enlightenment and what about my emotional
blocks, and what about my chakras, they’re not all fully open? What about my stillness – I’m not really
still yet, and what about my ego? Somebody told me I still have an ego … it’s a bit reduced but it’s still
there.”
But all of that, all of those ideas are adopted lessons about how it should be. The ego is what’s
happening. The ego is just being ego. Thinking is just being thinking. There is only being. There is just being. There’s
nothing else. There’s nobody that’s running that. There’s no destiny, there’s no God, there’s
no plan, there’s no script, there’s nowhere to go because there is only timeless being. Being is totally whole
just being. And it is alive and fleshy and sexy and juicy and immediately this; it’s not some concept about ‘there’s
no-one here’. It’s not some concept about ‘there’s nowhere to go’. It is the aliveness that’s
in that body right now. There is pure beingness, pure aliveness. That’s it. End of story.
Really it is simply that. So there is no-one, there is no choice. There is no choice at any level.
Oneness didn’t choose to become two. There is just oneness. All there is, is oneness being alive with nobody doing it.
Is anybody doing breathing? Is anybody doing blood circulation? Is anybody really doing anything? No. There is just apparent
doing. Apparent life in freefall.
There is no answer to life because life is its own answer. It’s happening already. It’s
this. You never lost it. That’s the amazing thing about liberation. When liberation apparently happens people say, “It’s
amazing because the thing I was looking for has never left me. It’s the one thing that never comes and never goes –
the one constant that can’t be known or held onto.” And the one constant is being.
Earlier I
was sure of so many things, now I am sure of nothing. But I feel that I have lost nothing by not
knowing, because all my knowledge was false. My not knowing was in itself knowledge of the fact that all knowledge is ignorance, that `I do not know' is the only true statement the mind can make.
Having perfected the mirror so that it reflects correctly, truly, you can turn the mirror round and see in it a reflection
of yourself -true as far as the mirror can reflect. But the reflection is not yourself - you are the seer of the reflection.
Do
understand it clearly - whatever you may perceive, you are not what you perceive. You can see both the image and the mirror. You are neither.
